Be still and know that I am God - Psalm 46:10
The St. Maximilian Kolbe labyrinth is a replica of the 12th century labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. There is one difference, however. In the center of our labyrinth the Greek letters “Chi” and “Rho” symbolize Christ, the center of our journey of life. This reminds us of Jesus’ words, "No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
The Labyrinth Ministry Group was formed to facilitate the integration of the St. Maximilian Kolbe labyrinth into the spiritual life of the parish and to offer the labyrinth experience to individuals and groups in the surrounding community.
The Labyrinth Ministry has a threefold purpose: to educate parishioners and visitors about the history of the labyrinth and the spiritual enrichment it offers to those who choose to walk it prayerfully and reflectively; to assist in developing liturgical prayer services which enhance the sense of the labyrinth as a “sacred space;” to provide facilitators who will guide people in the process of walking the labyrinth, offering a written guide to those who wish it.
The Labyrinth Ministry has developed candlelight prayer services, assembled resource material on the history and use of the labyrinth, given talks to various parish groups, and led special labyrinth walks for members of the parish staff, the Mens Club, and others. The ministry has also sponsored labyrinth workshops and presented guest speakers.
