Jobs Wanted for our Youth our future depends on training them! If you would like to help with this program please contact us! We need our time, talent to help find the treasure!
It is our pleasure to introduce to you a community wide program endorsed our Pastor, Fr.O’Dwyer, Fr. Haney of St. Pascal Baylon, Mrs. Susan McSweeney, the Mayor of Westlake Village and Mr. Mario Contini, Superintendent of Schools for the Conejo Valley Unified School District. This program benefits youth and young adults, our schools and colleges, our businesses and in fact, the entire community. The program seeks and solicits your participation by providing training opportunities for our youth or enrolling your children into the program for internships that will benefit them in career development. This program is operated by volunteers from our Parish and various Rotary Clubs in the district and is funded exclusively by your donations.
The Careers4teens program is based on the European and Far Eastern education system, which has proven itself over generations. It offers an opportunity for prescreened high school youth and young adults to participate in full time or part time paid internships & career training jobs with established , top notch employers and city government entities in our community.
For young adults, who for whatever reason have not yet made a career decision, participating in this program will provide the time, money and experience to make a career selection decision based on their skill-sets and passions.
Our career training program jobs & internships provide the following benefits:
- 1) The trainee experiences, perhaps for the first time in the his/her life, the meaning of "working for a living" and all that goes with it, e.g. arriving on time, following instructions, earning a wage, collaborating with others and so on. All this under a structured program with a supervising "Mentor."
- 2) During the internship, the trainee is exposed to different areas of the business and has the opportunity to develop "skill sets" for a career. This work exposure also allows the trainees to identify where his/her passion lies thereby enabling them to select a career path that will be rewarding and fulfilling.
- 3) The employers participating in this program have the opportunity to train the intern according to their requirements and to evaluate the trainee during the course of their internship for future long term and permanent positions to help grow their business.
- 4) The parents see their youth mature and undertaking responsibilities, becoming conscious of money and time, developing discipline and generally blossoming into a wonderful and responsible adult.
The outcome benefits the entire community! In 2006/2207 over a $1,000,000 in trainee wages were made available
We have established partnerships with some of the leading Employers, Schools and City Governments in our communities and the list is expanding weekly. If you have children who would like to participate in this program or, if you are a potential employer and would like to partner with us to offer a training job / internship, please contact our parishioner Romesh Gulrajani the contact information is at the top of this page.
